This is another painting in my "thrift your art" series. Truth be told this was a yard sale find for $4. Each Fall I make it part of my front porch display and hope the wind doesn't take it away! It actually came pretty darn close to flying off this year but that metal lantern did a good job of slowing it down.

Weekend Finds
Vintage Strawberry Metal Tray
Beistle 3D Snowflakes in their original, unopened package
Vintage Halloween Owl Candleholder - made in Japan
Vintage "Space-Saver" metal bowl/tray - you can slide the sections to make it bigger as the need arises - the bolt that you tighten to adjust size is marked "Space Saver" - how clever is this? I love the whole industrial feel of the pierced hole pattern in the metal.
Green pottery planter - I never leave these behind.
Religious figure plaques - I've been finding religious items interesting of late. Is it wrong that I want to add some glitter to these (not much - just a tasteful spruce up)?!
Vintage Infant of Prague Planter - made in Japan. See how the religious theme keeps popping up.
Vintage Electronic Milton game - oh if you could hear the phrases this game says. Too funny for words.
All in all a fruitful weekend. Eventually all of this will be for sale whether on Ebay, Etsy or at shows in the spring. Well, ok, not all of it. That owl is MINE, MINE, MINE!
What did you thrift this weekend?

Rudolph With Your Nose...
Have you noticed all the brass hanging around thrift shops? Of course you have and more often than not you pass it by. I came across (ok, ok, actually my husband found this one for me but he just got to the aisle first!) this horrible brass sleigh last Friday. Hmmm...glitter perhaps?!

Getting Ready for the Holidays CSN GIVEAWAY
Looking at the calendar this time of year can be a bit overwhelming. So many things to do, gifts to purchase, home decorating, people to visit. Lucky for you I may have just the giveaway to help with that last bit!
The fine folks at CSN stores have given me a $55 gift certificate to share with my blog friends. As you pull out your luggage and realize that suitcase you were going to use is a bit tattered you can head over to their site and find a fabulous replacement.
If you aren't familiar with CSN stores they are an e-commerce site comprised of over 200 stores and a wide range of goods for home improvement, home decor, furniture, housewares, cookware - oh the list is pretty much endless.
Use the above link to begin your shopping. Gift certificate can't be used toward shipping costs but will be good at ANY of their sites. Click on the suitcase above to start your wish list!
How do you win? Pretty easy. You know the drill - leave me a comment on this post for one entry. Become a follower of my blog and leave me a comment letting me know you've done so (or if you already are a follower) for another entry.
Contest ends at noon Eastern time on December 1st. Winner will be notified via e-mail so make sure when you enter that I have a way to contact you.
Happy shopping to all!

Rednesday Pixie
It's Rednesday again! This time I'm sharing a vintage Davar Pixieware oil jar. For a short time we collected Pixieware but as often happens - we've moved on. I thought I'd post this before it's gone. It's currently on Ebay along with it's mate Mr. Vinegar.
She Had Me At The Box
A little while back I was the lucky winner of a giveaway. The fabulous Shara at Monkeybox packed up a box of goodies for me. She had me at the wrapper on the box...

Thrift Your Art
Today I'm showing another piece of "fine" art from my collection. I thrifted this several years ago when we lived in Maryland.
Why did I pick this up? This is original artwork. Artist signed. It was $10. It has appealing subject matter. The colors are easily worked into most room settings. If I ever get bored with it (or run out of room - which is a real possibility) I can sell it for more than I paid. Why wouldn't you pick this up?
