Dorothy, You're Not in Goodwill Anymore...

Greetings Junque friends.
Here in the tropics I have encountered a rather confusing species of thrift store.
Exhibit A:
I had to head back outside and check the sign to be sure I was not losing my mind.
Goodwill.
Yes, Goodwill.
Ummm...when did the displays get so...groovy?
Shredded denim strips form the backdrop and the platform is built out of pallets.  Junk on thrift folks!
Furniture case items arranged "just so" with some potted greenery on the side for height.
Book pages people!  Board backdrops covered in  book pages.  Paperbacks strung on twine and suspended from the ceiling.
Do the Anthro people come here?  Do they intern at Miami Goodwill stores?  Surely there is some sort of crossover here!
And adding to the unique Miami flair...
In case you were wanting some fruit on your way home.  Pop over to the truck and pick up a mango to go with your fabulous thrift/anthro finds!
I never cease to be amazed by the sights I see down here.
Yours in tropical junque,
Carrie

I immediately thought "Is this Goodwillology, or Anthrowillogy? " Wow. I hope you are enjoying. City Flea today, while at an amazing space, was so so for me and also a royal Pain to pack up. Elevators and lots of vendors plus the closing Choir Games = nightmare. I did have fun chatting with folks and sweet Roxie from the above comment stopped by and we got to meet in person. I am focusing on new and more artsy and less difficult to move things for my future, haha. Are you bringing home some great deco and retro from Miami?

Catching up on my blog reading and had to comment. When I saw the word "tropics" and saw the first picture, I knew you had to be somewhere between West Palm and Miami. My son lives a little farther north in Port St. Lucie. I've seen those fancy schmansy Goodwills. It's weird, isn't it? And have you been to the one in Palm Beach? It's very small and they have brands of clothes I've only read about. And they're still out of my budget. LOL

C'mon. That's seriously a Goodwill? The prices on the junk have got to be outrageous, in order to pay the person who does those awesome displays! Can't wait to see if you bought anything there!

I have NEVER seen a GW store looking so good. They must have a manager with a love for junky fun!
